All 10 Honey Types
Every honey type in Honey, Inc., with its base value and the farm value you need to unlock it — and an honest account of what switching actually costs, because it is not a straight upgrade.
There are ten honey types in this honey farm game, running from Basic Honey at a base value of 2 up to Temporal Honey at 18,000,000. That is a nine-million-fold spread across the whole ladder, and it is the single biggest multiplier in the game. Everything else — bees, hives, buildings, research — scales what happens around a jar of honey. The honey type sets what the jar is worth to begin with.
Honey types are gated by farm value. There is no player level and no XP in Honey, Inc.; farm value is the progression number, and hitting a threshold is what makes the next type available.

Name collision worth flagging. Royal Jelly is the eighth honey type. It is not the same thing as Royal Jellies, the prestige currency you earn from reincarnation. Same words, entirely separate systems — see Royal Jelly for the currency.
Switching honey type starts a fresh farm
This is the part that catches people out, so it is worth stating plainly: choosing a new honey type starts a fresh farm at that type's base value. It is a mid-game reset, not a straight upgrade. You do not carry your current farm over to the better honey and watch your income multiply — you begin again, with the new type's base value as your new starting point. Each new farm opens in the morning.
Read the numbers in the table with that in mind. Wildflower Honey's base value of 25 is 12.5 times Basic Honey's 2, which sounds like a straightforward win. But the comparison that matters is not base against base — it is the value you are currently realizing per jar on a mature Basic Honey farm against 25 on a farm that is starting over. A late Basic Honey run with buildings and research behind it may well be earning more than a brand-new Wildflower farm does for some time.
Do not switch on impulse. Unlocking a honey type and committing to it are different decisions. Reaching the farm value threshold makes the type available; it does not mean this is the right moment to take it.
The two curves, side by side
Two things scale as you climb the ladder, and they scale at very different rates.
Base value multiplies hardest at the start and settles down. Basic to Wildflower is 12.5×, Wildflower to Clover is 6×, Clover to Acacia is 8×, Acacia to Manuka is 10×. After that the steps shrink: 5×, then roughly 4.2×, then 4×, 4.5× and 4×. The last five switches are all in the same narrow band of four to five times.
The farm value gate moves the other way. Getting from Basic to Wildflower asks for 100,000 farm value from a standing start. From there the gates multiply by about 100×, then 84×, then roughly 45× and 71× — and from Buckwheat onward they settle into a clean 50× per step: 2.7 trillion, 135 trillion, 6.75 quadrillion, 338 quadrillion, 16.9 quintillion.
Put those together and the late game has a clear shape. Each switch asks you to build a farm fifty times larger than the last one, in exchange for honey worth about four times more per jar. The gap is not a design flaw — it is what the rest of the game is for. Research multipliers, building levels, the Royal Jelly earnings bonus and everything else exist to close a gap that honey type alone never closes.
Farm value uses the same scale as the game's Scale of Production tiers, which start at 1,000 and multiply by a thousand per tier all the way to 1063 at tier 20. The farm value page maps that out.
When is it worth switching?
There is no single threshold the game hands you, so the judgment comes down to a few honest questions.
- Has your current farm stopped moving? If upgrades have become slow to afford and each one barely shifts your income, a reset onto higher-value honey is buying you a fresh, fast-moving early game rather than a marginal gain.
- How quickly can you rebuild? The rebuild is the real cost. Everything that carries across runs — epic research bought with Honeycombs, and the +1.2% per Royal Jelly earnings bonus up to its +25% cap — makes each rebuild faster than the last. More of those means a shorter, cheaper reset.
- Are you switching or reincarnating? These are separate systems and they are easy to confuse. Reincarnation resets the farm in exchange for Royal Jellies, requires reaching at least honey tier 4 (Acacia Honey), and needs a minimum of 25,000,000 earnings in the run. Switching honey type is its own decision with its own reset.
- Are you about to be away? A fresh farm rebuilds partly on its own. Bees work at 80% efficiency while you are offline and 100% of the honey they produce is retained, with a two-hour base window extended by an hour per honey jar. Timing a switch before a long break turns dead time into rebuild time — see offline progress.
Acacia Honey at position four is worth a particular note. It is the first honey type that satisfies the reincarnation requirement, which makes reaching it a genuine milestone rather than just another rung. Below it, prestige is not yet available to you at all.
Getting to the next threshold
Everything that raises farm value is a route to the next honey type. Bee capacity runs from 50 to 500 across five levels, with refill rate climbing from 1 to 5.4 per second alongside it. Hives give you four slots across nine tiers to spawn those bees from. The four buildings carry the heaviest multipliers in the game: the Bee Colony reaches 133.4× efficiency, Storage reaches 4,095× capacity, the Shipping Depot reaches 243.8×, and the Research Lab reaches 10×.
The regular research tree spans thirteen tiers and 57 upgrade groups — Bigger Honeycombs, Careful Honey Handling, Artisan Honey Certification and Premium Nectar Sources among them. Faster shipping comes from the vehicle fleet, which runs from the Base Cart at 17 capacity up to the Hexaloop Tanker at 16,666,667, with larger vehicles trading speed for load. And for short pushes toward a threshold, boosts like Cash Injection and Money Printer, plus the Honeycombs from tapping wasps, are what people usually reach for.
