Eleven Honey, Inc. tips that come from how the game actually works — spending order, the traps in the upgrade menus, and the one button that resets your farm.
This beginner guide assumes you already know the basic chain: bees make honey, storage holds it, vehicles ship it for cash. If that is still fuzzy, start with how to play and come back. Every tip below is tied to a real number in the game — none of them are vibes.
1. Fill all four hive slots before upgrading a tier
You get four hive slots, and there are nine hive tiers to move them through. The price gap between "another slot" and "a better slot" is enormous early on. Base Hive slots cost 0, 100, 600 and 3,600 — a fully staffed Base Hive farm costs 4,300 in total. The first Improved Hive slot alone costs 21,600, five times that, and it does nothing for the three pads still sitting empty. Fill the cheap slots first. See hives for the tier list.
2. Understand what you are buying: capacity or refill
Your bees have two separate upgrade tracks and new players often pour cash into one and ignore the other. Capacity is how many bees you can have out at once: 50, 100, 200, 350, 500. Refill rate is how fast the pool comes back: 1, 1.6, 2.4, 3.6, 5.4 bees per second.

Refill costs exactly double capacity at every level, so capacity is the cheaper first buy. But a 500-bee pool refilling at 1 per second is a pool you spend most of your time waiting on. Buy capacity first, then close the gap on refill before you take the next capacity level.
3. Storage capacity matters more than it looks
Compare how the buildings scale across their twelve levels: Storage capacity reaches a 4,095× multiplier, Shipping 243.8×, and the Bee Colony's honey-per-bee 133.4×. Storage has by far the most room to grow of the three.
The reason is structural. Levelling the Bee Colony raises how fast honey arrives; it does not raise the ceiling on how much honey can sit waiting. Storage capacity is that ceiling. Storage also carries the processing speed stat, which climbs 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 — so a storage level is two upgrades in one.
4. Take the Research Lab early
The Research Lab's six levels have unlock thresholds of 0, 1,000, 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000 and 10,000,000, which means the first level is available immediately. Its multiplier runs 1 → 1.6 → 2.5 → 4 → 6.5 → 10×. There are 13 tiers of regular research with 57 distinct upgrade groups behind that door — Comfortable Hives, Premium Nectar Sources, Better Hive Nurseries, Shipping Speed I and so on. Treating research as a late-game system is the most common way to slow yourself down.
5. Tap every wasp, and tap them when you are rich
Common wasps cross the farm roughly every 30 to 90 seconds; Elite wasps roughly every 8 to 14 minutes. Both drop cash or Honeycombs. The detail worth knowing: cash rewards scale off your current balance, in rarity bands. A wasp tapped when you are flush is worth far more than the same wasp tapped when you have just spent everything. Elite wasps carry an additional epic band that commons do not.
6. Spend Honeycombs on epic research before boosts
There are 18 epic research upgrades, bought with Honeycombs — Rapid Hive Activation, Epic Swarm Multiplier, Fleet Negotiations, Research Subsidies, Enhanced Wasp Drops and the rest. They persist across reincarnation. Boosts like Hive Frenzy, Buzz Beacon and Money Printer are temporary multipliers that expire.
The argument in one line. A boost multiplies one session. An epic upgrade multiplies every session you will ever play, including all the ones after your next reincarnation. When Honeycombs are scarce, buy the permanent thing.
7. Bank honey jars before a long absence
The base offline window is 2 hours. Each honey jar you hold adds another hour of stored offline time. If you know you are about to be away overnight, that stockpile is the difference between two hours of production and most of a night's worth.
While away, bees run at 80% efficiency — but 100% of the honey they produce is retained, so nothing you earn offline evaporates. The game shows an away-time summary when you return.
8. Do not switch honey type the moment it unlocks
This is the single biggest trap for new players. Moving to a new honey type does not upgrade your existing farm — it starts a fresh farm at that type's base value. Basic Honey has base value 2, Wildflower 25, Clover 150; the jump in per-unit value is real, but so is the rebuild. The new farm opens in the morning with your production scaled back down.
Switch deliberately, when you are ready to rebuild and your permanent bonuses can carry you back up quickly — not the second the button lights up.
9. Farm value is the only progression stat
There is no XP and no player level. Farm Value is the number that gates content, including which honey types unlock. It is also grouped into Scale of Production tiers: tier 0 at 1,000, then a thousandfold per tier. If you are wondering whether you are "ready" for something, farm value is the number to check.
10. Bigger vehicles are not automatically better
The twelve vehicles unlock with Shipping Depot level and run from the Base Cart at 17 capacity to the Hexaloop Tanker at 16,666,667. Capacity is not the only stat: speed falls from 1.0 on the small carts to 0.45 on the largest. A bigger truck means fewer, slower trips — good when storage is overflowing, less useful when it is not.
11. Understand the +25% cap before you reincarnate
Reincarnation needs honey tier 4 (Acacia Honey) and at least 25,000,000 in earnings on the run. It pays out Royal Jellies, each worth a permanent +1.2% earnings bonus — capped at +25% total.
Read that cap carefully, because it changes what prestige is for. Once you are near +25%, more Royal Jellies stop being the reward. The lasting benefit is that your Honeycombs and epic research survive the reset, so each cycle restarts a farm that is permanently better equipped than the last one. Two small habits
Open mail and news when they flag something — both systems deliver rewards, not only story beats. And check the daily reward cycle; it is a server-validated login cycle that costs nothing but a tap. If you were invited with a referral code, your inviter's reward unlocks when you hit Scale of Production tier 2, which is worth knowing if a friend brought you in.
